Memories

Saturday (22nd) was definitely a day worth remembering. Meeting friends i've known for 13 years- now that's epic. After countless failed attempts at meeting over the last couple of months, we decided to meet on Saturday for dinner at a sushi place to celebrate Cheryl's birthday a week early. I enjoyed the much conversation and laughter that brought me back to the time i was sitting under the table on the first day of Kindy...feeling a little lost and alone in class, not knowing that 3 of my classmates would become one of the closest people to me in the world or that our friendship could actually last this long. They say that friendship can last forever, these 3 people have made me believe that. Remember the birthdays spent together? Barbeques galore...playing with sparklers, princess dress-up? I was always Ariel from The Little Mermaid :) Good times, good times. And I owe it all to you guys. So this is just a shout-out to 3 good friends. Cheers to our friendship! May we have many more parties together and may our friendship continue to grow...

"The world comes to life & everything's bright
From beginning to end when you have a friend by your side
That helps you to find the beauty you are
When you open your heart and believe in the gift of a friend"

"She sealed it, making sure none of it was lost through the process. She then placed it in her drawer of memories, in her heart, being careful not to damage the delicate memory. She smiled. It reminded her of all the times she had shared with them throughout the years. It reminded her of everything warm and nice...hot chocolate, teddy bears and marshmallows. A sweet and wonderful memory that she wanted to hold dear forever."

Sweatpants & Economics

Once again, I’ve given in to the excitement of having a new 'toy' (this blog) and decided to dump Economics for a couple of minutes. I’ve been studying for an Economics test (in my uber comfortable sweatpants!!) most of this evening. I do like Economics but honestly, I have yet to fully grasp this topic so basically I’m not fully ready for the test tomorrow. Although Mr. Woods says it’s just a quiz, I’m not very sure I believe him so I guess I’ll only find out tomorrow.

Today was one of those days I decided to step out of the library I am forever in and embrace the sunshine! – I joined my friends and ate a huge bowl of potato wedges! Yummy! Probably the most unusual lesson of today was Physics, which we spent in the computer lab, measuring earthquakes on seismographs. It ended with me officially being certified to read a virtual seismograph. Wow. Awesome stuff. I sat next to Sanjanaa (@illusionparade) so lesson was thankfully interrupted with a bit of laughter, tumblr and twitter.

I had another voice lesson yesterday. Focused more on preparation for my exam… am hoping to get some good news next week but will have to wait and see. Trying not to keep my hopes up. Once again, the weekend is fast approaching…I’m glad this week has been moving much faster than the last. A great improvement. Can’t wait for Friday as it marks the start of my 1 week Chinese New Year break. Hopefully, it’ll give me some time to go out and catch up with friends more. Although I’ve only been in school for 3 weeks, it feels like 3 months due to the great amount of work so can’t wait to get some rest. Just 2 more days!

I've been trying to use my camera more often lately so i've been playing around with it and produced some rather random pics :)

“Next to the Word of God, music deserves the highest praise." (Martin Luther)

I have always been a lover of music although I have to admit that I’ve been relatively single-minded by lending my ear to only a handful of genres. That’s an understatement. Other than Christian music, I’ve stuck close to Classical music like a moth to a flame. Only recently have I given in to pop, rock and the ‘teen bopper’ music many have been attracted to…however classical music is my first love. The smooth lines that subtly run through the songs make its message clear regardless of it’s tempo, rhythm or what language the lyrics are in. I feel like I have a deep attachment to it, like it’s a dear friend that’s bound to you over deep secrets and special memories. That’s what the essence of music is to me- a form of communication open to one’s interpretation. However, music is music and to say you comprehend music and it’s different forms, you have to be willing to embrace different genres. One thing that is similar of all forms of music is that it evokes some form of emotion in its listeners. It reaches the core of our soul and touches us from deep down in our hearts.

Another new beginning

The highlight of today was definitely the 2 hours sitting at that cafe cum bar with Missy having a heart to heart talk. Had open heart surgery - now I have a new heart with enough gusto that i believe can get me through almost anything. The gift of a friend. Thanks Missy…i guess the only downside today was the 1 hr spent dreaming in TOK class while my teacher started what was supposed to be a good discussion on moral and ethics but evolved into more of an anti-God rant which made absolutely no sense whatsoever. Other than that, it was an honour to spend time with a sister-in-Christ on her birthday…so I’m well-pleased. The reason why I’m starting this blog was cos Missy told me to, or at least she advised me to. So I thought no harm done…might as well give it a try. You never know, my kids may be reading this blog in the future. So whatever form this blog takes or evolves into I shall blindly follow, with the hope that it'll have some purpose and meaning. And so the day ends with punching in numbers into my calculator for Math homework. This is my life and i shall embrace it....
